Project Lifesaver is a nonprofit organization that works to ensure the recovery and safety of those in our community with cognitive disabilities who have a tendency to wander away from their caregivers. This proactive program provides clients with a small radio transmitter worn on the wrist or ankle. Each transmitter has a frequency that is unique to the client, allowing them to be tracked by receiving equipment that is used by our highly trained emergency responders.
Project Lifesaver Hendricks County was formed in January 2008. Several members of the Brownsburg Fire Territory were trained to use the tracking equipment, and within 6 months we had 8 clients from the Avon, Brownsburg, and Danville areas. Today, there are over 90 clients enrolled in our program and numerous agencies and individuals in the Hendricks County area trained in the use of the locating equipment. |
